Now, if you were to say to any Christian that what they believe is NOT TRUE, then they would not listen to a word you say.

But Christians who are TRULY SEEKING to know the TRUTH will listen to see if you are telling them the TRUTH or not. So then, when I ask the question: Does the KJV have any ERRORS in it? I am NOT saying that the KJV should not be trusted. But rather, I am teaching Christians to understand WHAT the errors in the KJV ARE so that they will not be DECEIVED by verses that have been incorrectly “translated” by the translators of the KJV.

Does the KJV Have Any ERRORS?

Chapter 3.

Was the KJV INSPIRED by God?

Now, if you ask a Christian who SINCERELY believes with all of their heart that Jesus is one and the self-same BEING as Almighty God the Father if they have any ERRORS in their teaching, then they would most likely say no. And the same is true for ANY Christian who sincerely believes that the KJV is the ONLY PURE translation of the word of God. They will argue till Jesus returns that the KJV is the ONLY Bible that can be trusted FULLY. And thus, to THEM, many of the KJV ONLY Christians will say no, the KJV does not have ANY errors. And they HAVE to say that or their whole argument the God PRURIFIED His word SEVEN times and the 1611 PURE KJV is the completed PURE word of God with no errors. But is their CLAIM the TRUTH?

One of the main arguments made by the King James ONLY Christians for why they dogmatically insist that the KJV is the ONLY TRUE Bible and the ONLY PURE translation of the Bible is their claim that the KJV was done under the INSPIRATION of the Holy Spirit. And, to THEM, that means that God INSPIRED every single word of the KJV to be translated exactly as the 40 plus translators translated it.

And, consequently, by their OWN KJV only  definition of “inspired by God”, then that means there cannot be even ONE SINGLE error in the translation of the KJV. Otherwise, their whole argument for the KJV as being the PURE word of Almighty God crumbles and falls as a false claim.

Now, obviously, today we can look back and see that NEW English translations were definitely needed. Here is a quote from another website which explains one of the reasons for the King of England authorizing a NEW translation on the English language. The emphasis is mine.

It is also interesting to note the timing of the King James translation. The English language was going through a major change. If the King James Bible was translated 100 years earlier, we would not be able to understand it. By the early 17th century, the English language had undergone a major revision and was actually simplified. What we have in our possession today is the 1769 4th edition. There was no manuscript changes but just an updating of the English wording as the language still continued its evolution to simplicity.   Below is just one example using Mark 3:28:

Wycliffe Bible of 1382

(Mark 3:28) Treuli Y seie to you, that alle synnes and blasfemyes, bi whiche thei han blasfemed, schulen be foryouun to the sones of men.

1611 KJV

(Mark 3:28) Uerely I say vnto you, All sinnes shalbe forgiuen vnto the sonnes of men, and blasphemies, wherewith soeuer they shall blaspheme:

1769  Revised Language 4th Edition

(Mark 3:28 KJV) Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:”

Now, even to this day in 2023 the English language is still evolving and changes have been made in some of our English words. So then, it is wrong for the KJV ONLY Christians to argue that even the New KJV is a so-called “corrupt” translation. In other words, the New King James Version is basically a copy of the KJV with the exception of the changes in the English “language”. The NKJV simply changed the OLD English to the way we speak the English language today.

Here is Mark 3:28-30 from the NEW KJV.

Assuredly, (The KJV uses the OLD English “verily”, which means truly and surely. However, the word “verily” is rarely, if ever use, or even no longer used outside of the KJV Bible. But if you did not know the meaning of the Old English word “verily”, then you would not understand what is being said. And thus, the change to modern English makes common sense, we understand, Assuredly) I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter;

29. But he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation. (Personally, I believe that the word “condemnation” is a more correct translation over the KJV translation of “damnation”. For you see, even the sin of blasphemy that is done in ignorance is forgivable when repented of. Notice that Jesus says that they are in DANGER of eternal damnation in the KJV. In other words, those not yet forgiven of blaspheming the Holy Spirit are in danger of the JUDGMENT, which is yet another meaning of the Greek word translated as “damnation” in the KJV)

30. Because they said, “He has an unclean spirit.

So then, just because corrections are made to verses of Scripture to have those verses AGREE with the WHOLE word of Almighty God that does not make those corrections to be TWISTING God’s word.

Let me explain what I mean by this. Whenever a Christian, like myself for example, uses ANOTHER meaning of a Hebrew or Greek word to give a more correct translation of a verse of Scripture, then the KJV ONLY Christians wrongly accuse us of TWISTING God’s word. And again, by God’s word, they mean the King James Version as being the ONLY TRUE and PURE translation. And thus, to them, if the OTHER meaning of the Hebrew or Greek word CHANGES the meaning as it is written or translated in the KJV, then, to them, that other meaning is corrupting their so-called ONLY PURE translation of the Bible. In other words, SOME of the KJV only Christians do not SEEM to care if a verse of Scripture in the KJV translation CONTRADICTS another verse of Scripture in the same KJV translation.

Let me give you some examples of what I mean by they SEEM not to care if there verses in the KJV that contradict each other. Let us look at some of those “contradictions” within the KJV translation of the Bible so that you can see how KJV ONLY Christians argue that no other translation can be trusted if it DISAGREES with the KJV.

Please understand that I am talking about the DELIBERATE choice made by the translators to choose a specific meaning of the Greek and Hebrew words OVER the OTHER meanings of those same Greek and Hebrew words that are in EVERY copy of the manuscripts. And by that specific meaning that the KJV translators chose to use, the KJV translation affects how a verse of Scripture is understood.

Therefore, the errors in ANY translation, INCLUDING errors in the KJV, can cause error in church doctrine. For example, the KJV only Calvinist Christians have a doctrine which wrongly teaches that God specifically created Lucifer to be EVIL. And thus, to THEM, God predestine Lucifer to rebel against God and there was nothing that Lucifer could have done to NOT rebel against God. And the KJV ONLY Calvinist Christians quote Isaiah 45:7 from the KJV to try to prove that Almighty God created evil.

Isaiah 45:7.

“I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.”

And if a Christian simply points out to the KJV ONLY Calvinistic Christians, then that are accused of TWISTING the Scriptures. But in TRUTH, the WAY Isaiah 45:7 is TRANSLATED as “CREATE evil” and “CREATE darkness”, it CONTRADICTS the very CONTEXT in Isaiah 45:18. But again, if we simple SHARE the OTHER meanings of the Hebrew and Greek words, then we are accused of TWISTING God’s word.

The Calvinist Christians simply argue that if the KJV says God CREATED evil, then that is what God did, case closed, end of discussion, God created evil BECAUSE the KJV says so. They refuse to truly CONSIDER the OTHER meanings of the Hebrew word “bara” that is WRONGLY TRANSLATED as create in Isaiah 45:7 to mislead Christian believe that Yahweh CREATED evil or CREATES evil and darkness.

Let me explain what I mean by Isaiah 45:7 being WRONGLY TRANSLATED by first reading Isaiah 45:7,18 together and then comparing them to Genesis 1:1,2. We will first read all four verse just as they are “translated” in the KJV. Then I will explain the more correct translation to reconcile the contradiction in the KJV translation.

Isaiah 45:7,18.

“Isaiah 45:7  I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things…

…Isaiah 45:18. For thus says the LORD that CREATED the heavens; God Himself that FORMED the earth and MADE it; He has ESTABLISHED it, He CREATED it NOT in VAIN, He FORMED it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.”

Now, let us compare these two verses of Scripture with Genesis 1:1,2 as they are “translated” in the KJV.

Genesis 1:1,2.

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Genesis 1:2.  And the earth WAS without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters”

Now, the WAY in which the Hebrew word “hâyâh” is translated as the verb “WAS” in the past tense, it makes these two verses sound as if God CREATED the earth WITHOUT FROM and void and that God CREATED the DARKNESS.

But that translation in ANY Bible along with that understanding of Genesis 1:1,2 to mean that God CREATED the earth without from CONTRADICTS Isaiah 45:18. For you see, in Isaiah 45:18, God clearly says that He did NOT create the earth in VAIN. The English word “vain” means worthless, of no use, without success, and not having the desired result. And the Hebrew word “toho” is the SAME Hebrew word translated as WITHOUT FORM in Genesis 1:2.

In other words, a more correct translation of Isaiah 45:18 would be, “He did NOT create it WITHOUT FORM.” And thus, Isaiah 45:18 does NOT AGREE with Genesis 1:1,2 as it is “translated” in the KJV. Therefore, we as Christians must search the Scriptures to see if we are being taught the truth by the WAY that some verses are translated in the KJV. And for that matter, in the way that some verse are translated in ANY translation.

In other words, we need to study the Scriptures and RIGHTLY divide the word of truth so that we will not be ashamed or discredited when shown to be wrong. And it is IMPOSSIBLE for KJV ONLY Christians to RIGHTLY divide the word of truth. For you see, they refuse to CONSIDER ANY other meanings of the Hebrew and Greek words to reconcile the contradictions in the KJV “translation”.

To say this another way, you cannot reconcile the KJV contradictions without truly considerably the OTHER meanings of the Hebrew and Greek words as being BETTER and more CORRECT translations in SOME verses of Scripture. In other words, a KJV ONLY Christians cannot reconcile the KJV translation saying that God CREATED the earth WITHOUT FORM in Genesis 1:1,2 with Isaiah 45:7. For you see, the WAY that Genesis 1:1,2 is “translated” in the KJV, God said the exact opposite in Isaiah 45:7 than what He supposedly said in Genesis 1:1,2 as it is translated in the KJV.

Let me says this again. In Isaiah 45:7, God clearly said that He did NOT create the earth WITHOUT FORM. And UNTIL the KJV ONLY Christians truly consider the OTHER meaning of the Hebrew “hâyâh” in Genesis 1:1,2 means the earth BECAME without form, then they cannot truly reconcile the contradictions in the KJV. All that they can do is IGNORE the contradictions and argue that they are not contradictions.

However, simply trying to explain that they are not really contradictions does NOT help the Christians who dearly love the KJV, but who are NOT KJV ONLY Christians, like myself. As I have said many times, I PREFER reading and studying the KJV over any other translation of the Bible. But in no means am I a KJV ONLY believer. I understand that the translators themselves of the KJV had some DOUBTS about their translation of the KJV. And that is why they wrote such a long preface in the 1611 KJV. And that is why they placed NOTES in the margin showing other possible meanings of certain verses of Scripture.

And to me, if the translators themselves had doubts about those controversial verses where they made notes in the margin, then how many other verses MIGHT they have translated poorly and even incorrectly? For you see, by truly considering the using OTHER meanings of the Hebrew and Greek words, then we can RECONCILE EVERY verse in the Bible to AGREE with each other. And thus, the controversial verses of Scripture will no longer be controversial.

With that being said, here is my own more correct version of Isaiah 45:7,18 followed by my own more correct version of Genesis 1:1,2 using OTHER meanings of the Hebrew words. Again, I believe these other meanings of the Hebrew words are more CORRECT translations or these two passages of Scripture. For as you will see, they no longer contradict each other. I will add some comments in parenthesis to explain why I chose these other meanings of the Hebrew words.

Isaiah 45:7,18.

“Isaiah 45:7.  I FORM the light, and (I, Yahweh) CUT DOWN darkness: I MAKE peace, and (I, Yahweh) CUT DOWN evil: I the LORD do all these things…

…Isaiah 45:18. For thus says the LORD that CREATED the heavens; (Or perhaps, a more correct translated might be, “for you see, thus says Yahweh the CUT DOWN the heavens”. In other words, at first or in the beginning God cut down the heavens, as in, God cut down the fallen angels in the heavens in order to cutdown the darkness. Then) God Himself that FORMED the earth and MADE it; He has FIXED it, He CREATED it NOT in VAIN, (Or more correctly translated, He did NOT create it WITHOUT FORM) He FORMED (Or he DRESSED it or changed its surface as one would change a garment, according to Psalm 102:25,26 and Isaiah 51:6-8. In other words, After God CUT DOWN the earth to cut down the darkness in the heavens, God FIXED, RESTORED, or RENEWED the face or the surface of the earth, according to Psalm 104:30)  it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.”

Now, this is just one TYPE or KIND or error that is found in the KJV translation. Here is a list of types or kings of errors that there are in the KJV. Please understand that these same types of errors are also found in EVERY other translation of the Bible as well. And once you understand what to look for, then you can reconcile any translation of the Bible. And thus, you will learn that you can trust any and all translations, because you will know and understand how to CORRECTLY interpret the Scriptures in the LIGHT of the WHOLE word of Almighty God.

#1. Typographical errors. This kind of error was made when a copy was made. For example, some of these errors were made when copies of a manuscript were made, Another example is when an English translation was copied from another English translation.

#2. Printing errors. This kind of error is made by those in charge of preparing the translation to be printed by machines. The machines will print what they are SET or programmed to print. And thus, sometimes an error is made is this step of the process of making a translation.

#4. Accidental errors. This is when one misreads what they are copying. These errors were done when copying damaged or smudged manuscripts. It was not like they had access to other manuscripts to double check the blurred word or words. And thus, the wrote what they believed would have been the correct word.

#5. Intentional errors, but not a deliberate deception. These errors are the CHOICES made of which meaning of a Hebrew or Greek word that best fits what the translators sincerely believe the test should say. And thus, these kind of errors are based on the BELIEF of the translators. If they are Calvinist Christians then they will intuitively be biased to choose a meaning of a Hebrew or Greek word that will convey the BELIEF of Calvinism in the translation.

#6. The deliberate errors to promote a particular belief KNOWING that it is NOT conveyed clearly in the original manuscripts. Sadly, this type of error is found in many WAYS in the KJV translation.

And in chapter 4 we will take a closer look at all six of these types of errors giving you and EXAMPLE of each kind of error directly from the KJV translation. And one of the errors is that NOT ALL of the ADDED words are NOT in ITALICS? And thus, some of the added words actually MISLEAD Christian to wrongly believe in man-made church doctrines.
