Daniel 7:9 Who is the Ancient of Days?

Chapter 1.

The phrase, “the Ancient of Days” is found three times in the Bible. And all three times they are found in Daniel 7:9-22. 

Now, Trinitarian Christians sing a worship song to Jesus as being the Ancient of Days. But to me, that is like singing a song to worship Almighty God the Father as being the LAMB, saying to the Father, worthy are you, O Lamb.

The Father is not the Lamb. The Son of Almighty God the Father is the Lamb. In Revelation 5:1-7, they were looking for a MAN who was worthy to open the book. And they found the Lion of the tribe of Judah to be worthy, as the Lamb slain. Then the Lamb comes over to the Almighty who is sitting on the throne. And the Lamb takes a book out of the hand of the one sitting on the throne. So clearly, the Lamb is not the Almighty who is sitting on the throne. But during the world to come, the Lamb will sit on his Father’s throne to rule for Yahweh and in the NAME of Yahweh for 1000 years. And we will rule WITH the Lamb, Jesus. 

And in Daniel 7:9-22 we see that the one like the Son of MAN comes over to the Ancient of Days. So clearly, the Son of MAN, Jesus, is NOT the Ancient of Days, who ALONE in the Almighty and the God of Jesus. Keep in mind that this is a PROPHECY of the Son of MAN coming over to the Ancient of Days at the end of this present world. Let us go ahead and read that passage of Scripture so that you can see this truth for yourself from the Scriptures.

Daniel 7:9-22.  

“I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of Days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. 

Verse 10.  A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. 

Verse 11.  I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame. 

Verse 12.  As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time. 

Verse 13.  I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and CAME to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before Him. 

Verse 14.  And there was GIVEN him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

Verse 15.  I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me. 

Verse 16.  I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things. 

Verse 17.  These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth. 

Verse 18.  But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever. (And in verse 22, you will see that the Ancient of Days is the MOST HIGH, who we all know is the Father) 

Verse 19.  Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet; 

Verse 20.  And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows. 

Verse 21.  I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; 

Verse 22.  UNTIL the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.” 

Now,  in general, Trinitarian Christians do not consider that Jesus is one of the SAINTS. And that is because their church denomination teaches them that Jesus is Almighty God Himself in the flesh. And thus, Trinitarian Christians wrongly “interpret” the Ancient of Days as being Jesus.

But, in truth, Jesus OBTAINED a NAME that is more excellent than the angels by INHERITING that NEW NAME that is above every other name, according to Hebrews 1:1-5, Philippians 2:8-11, Isaiah 62:2, and Revelation 3:12.

We are JOINT-HEIRS WITH Jesus, according to Romans 8:17. And, according to Revelation 20:6, we will rule and reign WITH Jesus. In other words, according to Hebrews 2:5-14, and Revelation 3:21, the God of Jesus SET the Son of MAN at His right hand on the Father’s throne, and Jesus will grant us who overcome and are found worthy to sit on his throne to rule and reign over the earth with him.
