Was the Son of God Always God?

I do not know about you, but I have made the choice to believe what the Bible ITSELF teaches, as opposed to, what church TRADITIONS teach.

In other words, I do indeed believe in the ORIGINAL church tradition established by the very Apostles of Jesus in the first century. But I do NOT believe in the many church traditions that DEPARTED from the doctrine of the Apostles of Jesus.

Now, there are basically, four “main” traditional church teachings concerning WHO Jesus is and who Jesus is NOT. I say “main” because there are variations of these basically the same beliefs, but the traditional beliefs are defined differently with a few changes that cause CONTRADICTION to what the Bible ITSELF teaches us in SIMPLICITY.

I will list them in no particular order.

#1. The doctrine of the Trinity, the view that the one true God exists in three separate persons. And thus, to them, Jesus is NOT the Father.

#2. The doctrine of Oneness by the Oneness Pentecostal Christians who teach the Jesus and the Father are ONE, as in, they are one and the self-same being. In other words, Jesus is the Father and the Father is Jesus. And thus, to them, Jesus is NOT a separate person.

#3. The doctrine that teaches the Son came into existence in the eternity past and was brought into existence by the Father. And thus, to them, the Son of God is NOT the Father.

#4. The doctrine of the Biblical Unitarian Christians, which teaches that the Son of God came into existence for the first time at the Virgin birth. The Son of God was fully human during the days of his flesh. And then, after the cross, the human Son of God was made both Lord and God AFTER the cross and resurrection, according to Acts 2:36 and many other verses of Scripture.

Now, I personal believe that view #4, the Biblical Unitarian teaching concerning WHO Jesus is agree perfectly with the doctrine of the Apostles of Jesus. And thus, I do indeed believe in church tradition, as in, the ORIGINAL church tradition as taught and establish by Jesus himself and his Apostles who WROTE the New Testament Scriptures.

So, let us see WHO the Jesus and his Apostle identify as being the ONE God.

1 Corinthians 8:1-8.

“Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but charity (Or love) edifies. 

1 Corinthians 8:2. And if any man thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. 

1 Corinthians 8:3. But if any man loves God, the same is known of him. 

1 Corinthians 8:4. As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is NONE other God but ONE. (In other words, to us who are Christians, there is NONE other God but ONE, who is the Father, according to verse 6 below)

1 Corinthians 8:5. For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there ARE gods many, and lords many,) 

1 Corinthians 8:6. But to us there is but ONE God, the Father, of whom are ALL things, and WE (The ALL who BELIEVE are) in Him; AND (To us there is also) ONE Lord Jesus Christ, by (Or in) whom are ALL (The ALL who BELIEVE and NOT all) things, and WE (The ALL who BELIEVE are) by (Or BECAUSE of) him. 

1 Corinthians 8:7. Howbeit, there is NOT in EVERY man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled. 

1 Corinthians 8:8. But meat commends us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.”

In other words, there are MANY gods in heaven that have remained faithful to Yahweh. 

And there are ALSO many gods on the earth who rebelled against Yahweh and waged a WAR against Yahweh and His angels. And the fallen gods, also called the fallen angels, deceived men to worship them and offer sacrifice to them. And thus, the IDOLS made by pagans are made as their images of “real” gods, but LYING gods.

And that is why Jesus says in John 17:13 that the Father is the ONLY TRUE God and him whom the Father COMMISSIONED.

So then, WE who are Christians do NOT worship those fallen gods, the fallen angels or the fallen Elohim. To us, those gods are nothing.

Rather, to us there is only ONE God who ALONE is the FATHER. And also, to us there is ONE Lord, the ANOINTED Son of MAN, Jesus, whom Yahweh, the Father MADE Lord, according to Acts 3:36.

You see, the Greek word translated as “SENT” in John 17:3 means COMMISSION, according to the literal translation of the Textus Receptus. And the word “commission” means to GIVE power and authority to someone to accomplish the task that they are given to do.

And the human Son of MAN, Jesus, was ANOINTED to FINISH the work that Yahweh the Father began back in Genesis. More details on that subject of Jesus finishing the work started by the Father as you continue reading the related Verse Studies linked in this Verse Study.

Now, while the CONTEXT of 1 Corinthians 8:6 covers many things, we should not lightly skim over any of them and dismiss them as not being relevant to the whole “theme” of what the Bible itself teaches us.

So then, part of what the Apostle Paul is teaching us is that WE as Christians are FREE to eat all manners of meat. As in, all manners of meat have been CLEANSED by Yahweh at the cross and resurrection through the once and for all ONE sacrifice made by His ANOINTED human Son Jesus. 

EVEN the meat that we KNOW was specifically offered to idols has been cleansed by the shed blood of Jesus, to us who BELIEVE. But that is another study in and of itself, which I cover under the subject category >>>Dd-0. WHAT is the TRUE SABBATH?<<<

For now, I want you to read John 17:3 with your “spiritual” eyes OPEN so that you can see that the Son of MAN, was GIVEN power by his God and Father. 

John 17:1-4.

“These words spoke Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; GLORIFY Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You: 

John 17:2. As You have GIVEN (As in, as You have PROMISED in your word  GLORIFY and GIVE) him POWER over all flesh, that he (Speaking of the Son of MAN after Yahweh GLORIFIES him on the DAY Yahweh raised him from the DEAD) should give eternal life to as many as You have given him. (Again, as many sons as Yahweh the Father promised in his word to give to His Messiah whom He promised to GLORIFY to rule as God during the world to come)

John 17:3. And THIS is life eternal, that they might know YOU the ONLY TRUE God, AND (That they may also know me) Jesus Christ, whom YOU have SENT. (Or more correctly translated, “…whom You have COMMISSIONED.” For you see, the human Son of God was GIVEN all power and authority AFTER the cross and resurrection. 

And thus, BEFORE the cross, Jesus was ANOINTED with a measure of God’s Holy Spirit and power. The FULNESS of the Godhead or the fulness of Deity did not dwell in the Son of God until AFTER the cross and resurrection to be MADE Lord and Messiah, according to Acts 2:36 and many other verses of Scripture)

John 17:4. I have glorified You on the earth: I have finished the work which You gave me to do.”

The pronouns “I” and “me” are referring to the HUMAN Son of God, the Son of MAN, Jesus.

There was no so-called “God the Son” sent down from heaven that was manifested or incarnated to become flesh. That is Trinitarian church TRADITION the CONTRADICTS many other verses of Scripture in the Bible.

Again, once Christians understand the REASON that Yahweh CREATED the Son of MAN, Jesus, was to have DOMINION over the work of Yahweh’s hands. 

And that you understand that the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels. 

Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become a Lord, a King, and a God, to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
