Does God CREATE Evil as Some Christians CLAIM?

Let us begin this Verse Study of Amos 3:6 by reading 1 John 1:5, James 1:13-17, and Matthew 19:17 so that you can see the TRUE character of Almighty God the Creator.

1 John 1:5.  

“This then is the message which we have heard of him, (Speaking of the message that Jessu himself taught his disciples) and declare unto you, that God is LIGHT, and in Him is NO DARKNESS at ALL.”

James 1:13-17.

“Let no man SAY when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, NEITHER tempts He any man:

James 1:15. Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth DEATH. 

James 1:16. Do NOT err, my beloved brethren.  (God does NOT create or CAUSE evil!)

James 1:17. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

And in Matthew 19:17 we see on coming to Jesus calling him a good master. But Jesus rebukes him as says that only God is GOOD.

Matthew 19:17.

“And he said unto him, Why calls you me good? There is NONE GOOD but ONE, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.”

So then, clearly seeing that Almighty God the Creator is GOOD, and in Him is NO DARKNESS at all, and they every GOOD gift comes down from the Father of LIGHTS, then how can any Christian CLAIM that God CREATES or CAUSES evil?

The answer is simple! We are reading TRANSLATIONS of the Bible and there are ERRORS made in the translations of SOME verses of Scripture in the Bible. And Amos 3:6 is one of those verses of Scripture that has been “incorrectly” translated in the King James Version of the Bible and pretty much every other “translations”.

A few translations are honest enough to place that word it and the question mark in parenthesis to let the reader know and understand that the word IT and ? are NOT in the original text.

Here is the Darby translation of Amos 3:6

“Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? Shall there be evil in a city, and Jehovah not have done [it]?”

The Lexham English Bible of Amos 3:6.

“Or is a horn blown in a city and people are not afraid? Or does a disaster occur in the city and Yahweh has not done [it]?”

And in some of the good study Bibles of the KJV and other translations, the word IT? is in ITALICS to let the reader know the IT? is NOT in the original text.

Let us read Amos 3:6 from a LITERAL translation that is translated from the Textus Receptus.

Here is the LITERAL translation of Amos 3:6.

“If he is being blown trumpet in the city, and people not they shall tremble if SHE is becoming evil in the city, and Yahweh NOT He did.”

In other words, if the warning sound of the trumpet is being blown is the city, then will not the people be afraid of what the sounding of the trumpet is warning them of? If she, speaking of the city has become evil, Yahweh did NOT cause that evil.

That is the TRUE sound BIBLICAL meaning of Amos 3:16 when it is CORRECTLY translated and correctly interpreted in the LIGHT of the WHOLE word of Almighty God.

Let us now read the CONTEXT of Amos 3:6 from the KJV with the word [IT?] placed in brackets like it should be in ALL translations of the Bible. The context is WARNING the children of Israel that if THEY do evil, then they will suffer the PUNISHMENT of Yahweh, which is JUSTICE and NOT evil.

Who are you to say that the PUNISHMENT that Yahweh decides for those who CHOOSE to do EVIL is just as EVIL?

Amos 3:1-15.

“Hear this word (Or this prophecy for you choosing to do EVIL) that the LORD has spoken AGAINST you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying, 

Amos 3:2.  You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore, I will PUNISH you FOR all YOUR INIQUITIES. (Now, did Yahweh TEMPT them with EVIL? Not according to James 2:13,14 and the other passages of Scripture that we read at the beginning of this Verse Study on Amos 3:6) 

Amos 3:3. Can two walk together, except they be agreed? (In other words, Yahweh is asking the children of Israel and us as Christians, how can we walk together with Yahweh and His Son Jesus unless we AGREE to do the WILL of Yahweh, the Father?)

Amos 3:4. Will a lion roar in the forest, when he has no prey? Will a young lion cry out of his den, if he has taken nothing?

Amos 3:5. Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? Shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all? (These are all analogies showing that in nature things are done for a PURPOSE. A lion does not hunt unless it is hungry. And God does NOT punish if there is no choosing to live in a lifestyle of sin)

Amos 3:6. Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? Shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD has NOT done[ it? ]

Amos 3:7. SURELY the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he reveals his secret unto his servants the prophets. (In other words, Yahweh will NOT punish the people who choose to do EVIL unless he WARNS them of that COMING punishment first for living in a lifestyle of sin)

Amos 3:8. The lion has roared, who will not fear? (Or if you would hear a lion roar, would you not be AFRAID? Of course, you would be afraid, and you would seek protection from the lion) the Lord GOD has SPOKEN, (Or Yahweh was roared like a lion WARNING the people of the PUNISHMENT for their OWN CHOOSING to live in a lifestyle of sin) who can but prophesy? (And all that God is asking us to do is to SPEAK His PROPHECY) 

Amos 3:9. Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, (Ashdod means those who RAVAGE, vandalize, and bring harm to others) and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, (The root word of Egypt means to fortify or to choose arms. Also, Egypt prophetically means the worldly system of doing things) and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, (And Samaria means watch station. We shall know them by their FRUITS) and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof. 

Amos 3:10. For they know NOT to do right, says the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces. (So, WHO chose of their own free will to OPPRESS others and store up violence and robbery in their CITY? It was NOT Yahweh who CAUSED this EVIL!)

Amos 3:11. Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD; An ADVERSARY there shall be even round about the land; and he shall bring down your strength from you, and your palaces shall be spoiled. (In other words, if one chooses to play the harlot on Satan’s playground, then do not be surprised when Satan OPPRESSES you. The THIEF comes only the steal kill and destroy. But Jesus came that we might have eternal life and life more abundantly. Jesus went around doing GOOD and healing all who were OPPRESSED by the DEVIL, according to Acts 10:28 for God was WITH him. So again, NO! Yahweh is NOT the CAUSE of EVIL, Satan is the CAUSE of EVIL.

But if you are a Christadelphian Christians that has WRONGLY been taught the the Devil is NOT a REAL being, then you MUST also WRONGLY interpret verses like Amos 3:6 to mean that Yahweh the Creator is the CAUSE of all of the EVIL in the world. 

However, you do not have to REMAIN believing what the Christadelphian and Calvinistic Christians WRONGLY teach by taking verses of Scripture OUT of their CONTEXT to invent their man-made doctrines)

Amos 3:12. Thus says the LORD; As the shepherd takes out of the mouth of the lion (Who walks around roaring and SEEKING whom he may DEVOUR and the shepherd has to pick up the pieces so to speak out of the lions LYING mouth) two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch. (This is an analogy of HIDING one’s SIN and NOT repenting and confessing their lifestyle of living in sin. The meaning of the words bed and couch describe a covered bed or couch having a canopy. Some beds are covered top and all four sides so that you cannot see what is happening in the bed)

Amo 3:13. Hear you, and testify in the house of Jacob, says the Lord GOD, the God of hosts, 

Amos 3:14. That in the day that I shall VISIT the transgressions of Israel upon him, I will also visit the altars of Bethel: (Which means the house of God. In other words, the church is NOT exempt from the WATH of God when Christians CHOOSE to live in a lifestyle of SIN. And thus, when SHE, the city BECOMES EVIL, Yahweh did NOT cause that evil. But Yahweh will certainly PUNISH those who CHOOSE to do evil) and the horns of the altar shall be cut off and fall to the ground.

Amos 3:15. And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, says the LORD.”

Summer is the time for bearing FRUIT because fruit does not grow and spring forth when it is COLD. So again, Yahweh is using the analogy of those bringing for GOOD fruit to execute the WRATH of Yahweh upon the children of DISOBEDIENCE to the gospel, according to 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10,  Psalm 149:6-9 and Revelation 18:4-8.

Again, the REASON that Yahweh CREATED the Son of MAN, Jesus, was to have DOMINION over the work of Yahweh’s hands. And the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels.
