What Does 1 Timothy 2:5 TRULY Mean?

In chapter 1 of Book 7 “To Us There is But ONE God!”, we learned that, according to the Bible itself, the TRUE sound Biblical meaning of the phrase, “there is ONE God” means that there is only one Almighty God who is the God of gods that He made or set to be gods under and subject to Him.

And here in chapter 2, we will cover the verses used by Trinitarian Christians to try to prove that Jesus is a so-called second person of Almighty God who has always existed without ever having a beginning. To refresh your memory, let me repeat their words defining the word “Trinity”.

This is a term that is used to attempt to describe the triune God—three coexistent, co-eternal Persons who are God.

In other words, the concept of a Trinity God is an ATTEMPT to invent a triune God consisting of three separate coexistent and co-eternal persons who are the ONE ALMIGHTY God and Creator.

Now, when I grew up in the Roman Catholic faith, and their definition was co-equal and co-eternal. So then, we see that some CHANGES are being made in the doctrine of the Trinity among different groups of Trinitarian Christians. In other words, some Trinitarian Christians no-longer use the definition of co-equal. But rather, they NOW redefine the Trinity doctrine to say that second and third person of the Trinity are under and subject to the Father and NOT co-equal to the Father. And there are even some Trinitarian Christians who know and understand that the Son of God had a BEGINNING as the first being that Yahweh brought into existence.

Here are the verses used by pretty much all Trinitarian Christians as their proof that Jesus is Almighty God Himself in the flesh, but yet being under and subject to Almighty God the Father.

1) There is one God (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Corinthians 8:4; Galatians 3:20; 1 Timothy 2:5).

We have already covered Deuteronomy 6:4 along with Mark 12:29 in chapter 1. And we learned from the context that the God intended meaning of the Hebrew word “echad” means that God is ONE, as in, God ALONE is Yahweh and NONE other is Yahweh the Creator.

So then, let us begin chapter 2 with a closer look at 1 Timothy 2:5 so that you can see for yourself that this verse does NOT prove that Jesus is Almighty God Himself in the flesh.

1 Timothy 2:5.

“For there is ONE God, AND one mediator BETWEEN God and men, the MAN Christ Jesus;”

So then, how can Jesus be one and the self-same BEING as the ONE God and also be the mediator BETWEEN the ONE God and the humans that the ONE God created?

Notice that the Bible itself say that Christ Jesus is a MAN. And thus, the Bible teaches us that the MAN Christ Jesus is the ONE mediator between Almighty God and the humans. And according to Romans 8:29, we who believe are the BRETHREN of Jesus.

Romans 8:29.

“For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the IMAGE of His Son, that he might be the FIRSTBORN among many BRETHREN.”

Now, if WE are being conformed to be in the IMAGE of the Son of God who is the IMAGE of Yahweh, then does that make us to be Yahweh?

NO! Of course not! And neither does the Son of MAN, Jesus, being the IMAGE of the unseen God make Jesus to be Yahweh Himself.

Let us continue with the next verse used by Trinitarian Christians to try to prove that Jesus is Almighty God Himself in the flesh.

Now, the Trinitarian article uses the ESV of the Bible, which says, “Now an intermediary implies more than one, but God is one.”

However, to me, ONE in this verse means ONE God is ONE person. 

Let us read the same verse from the KJV, and then, we will read in again from a literal translation.

Galatians 3:20.

“Now a mediator is NOT a mediator of one, but God is one.”

The words in light green are NOT in the original Greek text. And thus, this verse should read as follows.

“Now a mediator is NOT of ONE, but (Or moreover or ALSO) God is ONE.”

In other words, a mediator is NOT of the essence of the ONE God who is ONE person, the Father. Nor is the mediator of the ONE called the Elohim, also called the ANGELS.

But rather, a mediator is a NEUTRAL an impartial witness that does not LIE.

Let us read Galatians 3:20 from the literal translation of the Textus Receptus.

LITERAL translation of Galatians 3:20.

“The yet mediator of one NOT is, yet God ONE is”

In other words, yet the mediator is NOT of ONE, speaking of the mediator NOT being God Himself, but God is ONE. The word “ONE” is referring to the Elohim, as in, ALL of the Elohim, of which Yahweh is ALSO ONE, as in, ONE of the Elohim. And Jesus, the mediator is NOT one of the Elohim, the angels, MOREOVER, he is NOT Yahweh who is ALSO an Elohim, as in THE God of gods or the Elohim of the Elohim.

Let us read the context so you can see that the Son of MAN was ORDAINED because of the angels who rebelled and waged a WAR against God. And then, the fallen Elohim blamed God for the war, because God is the Creator.

So, God ORDAINED a mediator to reconcile this dilemma of God being blamed for creating the angels with a rebellious sinful nature. And thus, the mediator could NOT be one of the angels, NOR one of God Himself, but God is ONE.

Galatians 3:19,20.

“Wherefore then serve the law? It was added because of transgressions, TILL the SEED should come to whom the PROMISE was made; and it was ORDAINED by angels (Or more correctly translated, “and he was ORDAINED because of the angels”) in the hand of a mediator. (And it, the determining of the outcome is the Son of MAN who is the mediator. And in this CONTEXT, the mediation is between the ANGELS and Yahweh the Father as to which is TRUTHFUL, the Creator or His creation whom He made to become gods)

Galatians 3:20. Now a mediator is NOT a mediator of one, but God is one.”

Yahweh the Creator would not be a just God if His mediator or the go between Him and the fallen angels was Almighty God Himself or one of the Elohim. In other words, God is an Elohim, and the angels are Elohim. And it would not be a TRUSTWORTHY go between if the mediator was ONE of the Elohim. Yet or ALSO Yahweh is ONE, as in, ONE of the Elohim.

Therefore, according to Psalm 8:1-6, Yahweh made or created MAN and the Son of MAN, Jesus, a little LOWER or inferior to the Elohim BECAUSE of His ENEMIES, the fallen Elohim. Now, the Hebrew word Elohim is translated as the angels in the KJV. In other words, Jesus being made a little lower than the angels, literally means a little lower than the gods that Yahweh SET on thrones to be gods under and subject unto Yahweh to rule over different parts of the universe.

And then, AFTER the cross and resurrection, Yahweh CROWNED the Son of MAN, Jesus, with GLORY and honor to RECEIVE power and authority to be MADE Lord, according to Acts 2:36, Hebrews 2:5-10, Matthew 28:18, John 17:2, Romans 1:3,4, and Revelation 5:12, plus many more verses of Scripture.

And thus, Galatians 3:20 does NOT prove that God is a Trinity Godhead of three separated persons who are ONE in unity or ONE in BEING.

Let us now read the last verse given by this Trinitarian writer of the article on the Trinity to try to prove that Jesus is Almighty God Himself. He cites 1 Corinthians 8:4, which is about IDOLS being nothing in this world.

And again, you have to wonder WHY this Trinitarian does NOT quote 1 Corinthians 8:6?

So then, let us read verse 4 being left in its CONTEXT so that you can see what the Apostle Paul is actually teaching us.

1 Corinthians 8:1-8.

“Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but charity (Or love) edifies. 

1 Corinthians 8:2. And if any man thinks that he knows any thing, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. 

1 Corinthians 8:3. But if any man loves God, the same is known of him. 

1 Corinthians 8:4. As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is NONE other God but ONE. (In other words, to us who are Christians, there is NONE other God but ONE, who is the Father, according to verse 6 below)

1 Corinthians 8:5. For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there ARE gods MANY, and lords MANY,) 

1 Corinthians 8:6. But to us there is but ONE God, the Father, of whom are ALL things, and WE (The ALL who BELIEVE are) in Him; AND (To us there is also) ONE Lord Jesus Christ, by (Or in) whom are ALL (The ALL who BELIEVE and NOT all) things, and WE (The ALL who BELIEVE are) by (Or BECAUSE of) him. 

1 Corinthians 8:7. Howbeit, there is NOT in EVERY man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled. 

1 Corinthians 8:8. But meat commends us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.”

In other words, there are MANY gods in heaven that have remained faithful to Yahweh. And there and many gods on the earth who rebelled against Yahweh. And the fallen gods deceived men to worship them and offer sacrifice to them.

But WE, who are Christians, do NOT worship those gods, the fallen angels or the fallen Elohim. Rather, to us there is only ONE God who ALONE is the FATHER. And also to us there is ONE Lord, the ANOINTED Son of MAN, Jesus, whom Yahweh, the Father MADE Lord, according to Acts 2:36.

Therefore, WE as Christians are FREE to eat all manners of meat, EVEN meat that we KNOW was specifically offered to idols. But that is another study in and of itself, which I cover under the subject category >>>Dd-0. WHAT is the TRUE SABBATH?<<<

That concludes all of the arguments on point number 1 made in the Trinitarian article that I am quoting from.

I will quote the arguments made in point number 2, which I will cover in chapter 3 or Book 7 There is But ONE God!

Here is point number 2 made by Trinitarian Christians.

2) The Trinity consists of three Persons (Genesis 1:1, 26; 3:22; 11:7; Isaiah 6:8, 48:16, 61:1; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14). 

In Genesis 1:1, the Hebrew plural noun “Elohim” is used. In Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7 and Isaiah 6:8, the plural pronoun for “us” is used. 

The word “Elohim” and the pronoun “us” are plural forms, definitely referring in the Hebrew language to more than two. 

While this is not an explicit argument for the Trinity, it does denote the aspect of plurality in God. 

The Hebrew word for “God,” “Elohim,” definitely allows for the Trinity.

In Isaiah 48:16 and 61:1, the Son is speaking while making reference to the Father and the Holy Spirit. 

Compare Isaiah 61:1 to Luke 4:14-19 to see that it is the Son speaking. Matthew 3:16-17 describes the event of Jesus’ baptism. 

Seen in this passage is God the Holy Spirit descending on God the Son while God the Father proclaims His pleasure in the Son. Matthew 28:19 and 2 Corinthians 13:14 are other examples of passages that present three distinct Persons in the Trinity.

Again, once Christians understand the REASON that Yahweh CREATED the Son of MAN, Jesus, was to have DOMINION over the work of Yahweh’s hands. 

And that you understand that the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels. 

Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become a Lord, a King, and a God, to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
