Psalm 2:7 The Lord our God has a Son!

In the first three chapters we covered the introduction of the Trinitarian article and the first 2 arguments to try and prove that God is a Trinity Godhead.

In chapter 4, we will cover argument number 3 used by Trinitarian Christians to try and prove that TWO Yahweh’s literally existed in the eternity past. Again, I will quote the argument first, and then, I will explain the verses to show WHY they do NOT prove that two Yahwehs always existed in the eternity past.

3) The members of the Trinity are distinguished one from another in various passages. In the Old Testament, “LORD” is distinguished from “Lord” (Genesis 19:24; Hosea 1:4). 

The LORD has a Son (Psalm 2:7, 12; Proverbs 30:2-4). The Spirit is distinguished from the “LORD” (Numbers 27:18) and from “God” (Psalm 51:10-12). 

God the Son is distinguished from God the Father (Psalm 45:6-7; Hebrews 1:8-9). 

In the New Testament, Jesus speaks to the Father about sending a Helper, the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17). This shows that Jesus did not consider Himself to be the Father or the Holy Spirit. 

Consider also the other instances when Jesus speaks to the Father. Was He speaking to Himself? No. He spoke to another Person in the Trinity—the Father.

Let us begin by taking a closer look at Genesis 19:26 which SEEMS like that were TWO Yahweh’s executing judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah.

Genesis 19:24.

“Then the LORD rained (Or more correctly, Yahweh caused it to rain) upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;”

Again, when this verse is taken out of it CONTEXT, it does SEEM to be implying that there were TWO Yahews who caused it to rain fire and brimstone upon Sodom and Gomorrah.

But when we understand that this is a TRANSLATION and that there was no punctuation or verse numbers in the original Hebrew text, then it is clear that there was only ONE Yahweh in the Old Testament.

Let me show you what I mean by removing the verse numbers, the ADDED words, and keeping the CONTEXT as one thought.

Genesis 19:24,25 without the verse numbers.

“Then Yahweh cause it to rain upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire. From Yahweh out of heaven, He overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.”

Now, if there were indeed TWO Yahwehs who worked together to overthrow the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, then the Scriptures would say THEY overthrew the cities. But verse 25 says He, as in, ONE Yahweh in ONE person overthrew the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.

So, NO! This verse does NOT prove that Yahweh is three or even two Yahwehs in the ONE Yahweh as Trinitarian Christians “interpret” this “incorrectly” translated verse of Scripture. But even being incorrectly translated, one should still be able to see that the SINGULAR pronoun “He” teaches us that there is ONE Yahweh in ONE person. 

Out of the mouth of TWO or three witnesses let every word be established. And I know of no other verses where it seems like there are two Yahwehs in the Old Testament times. All of the other verses where it seems like there are two LORDS are definitely PROPHECIES.

Let us take a closer look at the next verse used by Trinitarian Christians. I think that Hosea 1:4 should have been Hosea 13:4.

Hosea 13:4.

“Yet I am the LORD you God from the land of Egypt, and you shall know no god but me: for there is no savior beside me.”

The Trinitarian argument is that since Jesus is called our Savior and Yahweh is called our Savior, the Hosea 13:4 proves that Jesus is Yahweh Himself in the flesh.

But again, we are reading a “translation” and the Hebrew word translated as “there is no Savior BESIDE Me” could just as easily be translated as “there is no Savior WITHOUT Me”.

In other words, Jesus could not be our Savior WITHOUT Yahweh MAKING him to be our Savior. And thus, Jesus is the WORKMANSHIP of Yahweh.

Please read Acts 5: 30,31.

“The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you slew and hanged on a tree. 

Acts 5:31. Him has God EXALTED with (Or to) His right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.”

And Jesus was SEATED or SET at the right hand of Yahweh on Yahweh’s throne. So, NO! Hosea 13:4 does NOT prove that Jesus and Yahweh are one and the self-came being. Nor does in prove that there were two Yahwehs in the Old Testament.

Let us move on to the next Trinitarian verse that they use to try and prove that the Son of God literally pre-existed in the eternity past as the Lord who was with Yahweh.

The LORD has a Son (Psalm 2:7, 12; Proverbs 30:2-4).

Or more correctly, these passages of Scriptures are PROPHECIES of Yahweh’s future Son whom He prophesied to MAKE His King.

Psalm 2:7,12.

“I will declare the decree: the LORD has said unto me, You are my Son; this day have I begotten you…

…Psalm 2:12. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.”

Now, to me, taking verses of Scripture OUT of their context to argue that these verses mean that Yahweh’s Son literally existed with Yahweh in the eternity past is at the very least misleading, and at the very worst, it is deceitful. Not that the deceit was deliberate, but rather, Satan deceived them to believe and teach false man-made doctrines.

I mean, how can any Christian “interpret” these verses to mean that the Son of God was BEGOTTEN in the eternity past when these verses are kept in their CONTEXT?

Psalm 2:1-12.

“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? (Where there heathen raging in the eternity past when the Son was supposedly begotten?)

Psalm 2:2. The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, AND against His ANOINTED, saying, 

Psalm 2:3. Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. 

Psalm 2:4. He that sits in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. (Speaking of the HIGHLY EXALTED Son of MAN Jesus who Yahweh MADE Lord after the cross and resurrection, according to Acts 2:36)

Psalm 2:5. Then shall He speak unto them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure. 

Psalm 2:6. Yet have I SET My king upon My holy hill of Zion. 

Psalm 2:7. I will declare the decree: the LORD has said unto me, You are My Son; THIS DAY have I BEGOTTEN you. 

Psalm 2:8. Ask of Me, and I shall GIVE you the heathen for your INHERITANCE, and the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession. 

Psalm 2:9. You shall break them with a rod of iron; you shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. 

Psalm 2:10. Be wise now therefore, O you kings: be instructed, you judges of the earth. 

Psalm 2:11. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. (And how do we serve and honor Yahweh the Father? By obeying Yahweh to honor His Son even as we honor the Father) 

Psalm 2:12. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.”

Psalm 149:7-9 teaches us that Yahweh will give ALL of the saint the honor to execute the WRATH and vengeance of Yahweh. And Jesus is one of the Holy Ones of Yahweh.

So again, the answer is still NO! Psalm 2:7,12 does NOT prove that Yahweh’s Son literally existed in the eternity past. That Trinitarian interpretation must be READ into the Scriptures. 

Let us move on to the next verse used by Trinitarian Christians to try and prove that the Son of God literally pre-existed in the eternity past.

Proverbs 30:2-4.

“Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man. 

Proverbs 30:3  I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy. 

Proverbs 30:4. Who has ASCENDED up into heaven, or descended? (Or more correctly translated, Who has ASCENDED up into heaven and he is DESCENDING?) Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son’s name, if you can tell?”

Here is verse 4 from the New Century Version.

“Who has gone up to heaven and come back down? Who can hold the wind in his hand? Who can gather up the waters in his coat? Who has set in place the ends of the earth? What is his name or his son’s name? Tell me, if you know!”

The answer is the Son of MAN, Jesus, who ascended up into heaven on the morning that God raised him from the dead. And then the GLORIFIED Son of MAN, Jesus descended back down to the earth that SAME evening to sho himself alive fro forty days.

Let us continue looking at why the Trinitarian argument do not hold water, so to speak.

The Spirit is distinguished from the “LORD” (Numbers 27:18) and from “God” (Psalm 51:10-12). 

God the Son is distinguished from God the Father (Psalm 45:6-7; Hebrews 1:8-9). 

In the New Testament, Jesus speaks to the Father about sending a Helper, the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17). This shows that Jesus did not consider Himself to be the Father or the Holy Spirit. 

Consider also the other instances when Jesus speaks to the Father. Was He speaking to Himself? No. He spoke to another Person in the Trinity—the Father.

First of all, I totally AGREE with the Scriptures that clearly and absolutely teach us, having no doubt that the Father is NOT the Son and the Son is NOT the Father.

And there is absolutely no doubt that Yahweh God sends His Spirit to dwell in Christians, according to 1 Corinthians 3:16.

And there is absolutely no doubt that the Eternal Spirit DWELT in the Son of MAN, Jesus, according to Hebrews 9:14.

However, to me, the Bible itself teaches us that there is only ONE Spirit who has always been Eternal or immortal. And who is the ORIGIN of mortal life and eternal life.

And thus, Almighty God the Father is one and the self-same BEING as the Holy Spirit and NOT a so-called “third” person of a so-called Trinity Godhead made up of three separate persons. Please read the study called M-5 Why the Holy Spirit is the Father!

That leaves us with one last passage of Scripture in this third Trinitarian argument. And this last argue says that Jesus has the power and the authority to send the Holy Spirit, according to John 14:16,17 which is true. 

But to Trinitarian Christians, those verses prove that Jesus has to be Almighty God Himself in the flesh in order to be able to send the Holy Spirit. And thus, in THEIR Trinitarian mindset, the Holy Spirit has to be a THIRD person in order to be sent.

John 14:16,17.

“And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever; 

John 14:17. Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees Him not, neither knows Him: but you know him; for He dwells with you, and shall be in you.”

But, in TRUTH, the SAME Eternal Spirit who dwelt in Jesus in John 14:10 now dwells in us. And that Eternal Holy Spirit is clearly identified and being the FATHER in the SAME context, just 6 verses earlier in verse 10.

John 14:10.

“Believe you not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that DWELLS in me, He does the works.”

So then, the HELPER, the Spirit of TRUTH, is the FATHER Himself, as in, a portion of His own BEING of Spirit dwells in us.

So again, the answer is NO! None of these verses of Scripture used by Trinitarian Christians to try to prove that Almighty God Yahweh is a Trinity Godhead, do NOT prove that God is made up of three separate persons.

Here is argument number 4 from the Trinitarian article that I have been quoting from, which I will explain in the next chapter as to WHY it does NOT prove that Jesus is the Eternal God who alone is the Creator.

4) Each member of the Trinity is God. The Father is God (John 6:27; Romans 1:7; 1 Peter 1:2). 

The Son is God (John 1:1, 14; Romans 9:5; Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 1:8; 1 John 5:20). 

The Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4; 1 Corinthians 3:16).

Again, once Christians understand the REASON that Yahweh CREATED the Son of MAN, Jesus, was to have DOMINION over the work of Yahweh’s hands. 

And that you understand that the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels. 

Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become a Lord, a King, and a God, to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
