To Whom is the Righteousness is Isaiah 64:6 Referring?

The Christians who teach the doctrine of original sin, the doctrine that teaches that we are all born with a Sinful Nature, and the doctrine of Total Depravity, all use Isaiah 64:6 to try to support their doctrines. 

In other words, they “interpret” the phrase “OUR righteousness is as filthy rags” to mean that NO human can live righteously before God EXCEPT of Jesus. And thus, they conclude that ALL humans are BORN with a SINFUL NATURE that compels all humans to sin, INCLUDING Christians.

But that is NOT what the Bible itself teaches us. All men have SINNED by being LED ASTRAY by the ENEMIES of God. In other words, the SEDUCING spirits have deceived SOME to DEPART from the FAITH to teach doctrines of devils, according to 1 Timothy 4:1,2. 

Proverbs 28:10. 

“Whoso CAUSE the RIGHTEOUS to go ASTRAY in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the UPRIGHT shall have good things in possession.” 

So then, who is the “he” who CAUSES the righteous to go ASTRAY to DEPART from the faith? I is the prince of the AIR, the spirit who now works in the children of DISOBEDIENCE, according to Ephesians 2:2. Let us go ahead and read that verse.

Ephesians 2:2.

“Wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now WORKS in the children of disobedience:”

And according to Revelation 12:9, it is Satan, the Devil who DECEIVES the whole world to go ASTRAY to walk in his evil way. Then AFTER some people disobeys their CONSCIENCE to sin, they experience the pleasure of sin. But with other people the sin did NOT bring them any pleasure. And thus, Satan TEMPTS them with something else to find what will give them PLEASURE.

And it is the MEMORY of what brings each individual person PLEASURE that BECOMES their OWN LUST of the flesh. For you see, every person lusts after DIFFERENT pleasures of sin, and we all do not have the SAME lust. And that is the TRUE sound Biblical meaning of James 1:14, which Christadelphian Christians use to try to prove that the Devil is NOT a REAL literal BEING.

My point is that not ALL people are BOUND by the dominion of sin. There are even unsaved people, unregenerated by the Holy Spirit, who walk in RIGHTEOUSNESS. And yes, their righteous is as filthy rags in the eyes of God because they REJECT God’s Messiah. And thus, they BOAST in their OWN righteousness.

And that is WHY the Jews who reject Jesus will SUFFER it WRATH of God that is PROPHESIED in Isaiah 64:1-12. So then, the righteousness as filthy rags in verse 6 is a cry and prayer of REPENTANCE. 

The whole chapter is a prayer of the REMNANT of God’s chosen PEOPLE when they SEE Jesus coming in his WRATH, which they did NOT see coming. 

They are praying to be delivered like the RIGHTEOUS that Jesus REJOICES over and receives up into the clouds right before their eyes to move them to JEALOUSY just as God also prophesied in Deuteronomy 32:21.

Isaiah 64:1-12.

“Oh that You (Yahweh our Father) would rend the heavens, that You would come down, that the mountains might flow down at Your presence, (So then, clearly this is a PROPHECY of the WRATH of God upon the Jews that REJECT Jesus as their Messiah and continue to establish their OWN righteousness by works of righteousness done in their OWN strength to try to keep the Law of Moses)

Isaiah 64:2. As when the melting fire burns, the fire causes the waters to boil, to make Your NAME known to Your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at Your presence! 

Isaiah 64:3. When You did terrible things which we looked NOT for, (In other words, the Jew especially, but also the children of DISOBEDIENCE do not look for or THINK that they will suffer the WRATH of God) You came down, the mountains flowed down at Your presence. (Jesus is the presence of Yahweh the Father)

Isaiah 64:4. For since the beginning of the world men have NOT heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither has the eye seen, O God, beside You, what he has prepared for him that waits for him. (The Son of MAN, Jesus, was HIGHLY EXALTED to BE seated BESIDE Yahweh on His throne for 1000-years UNTIL all of the ENEMIES of Yahweh are put under his feet, according to Psalm 110:1, Matthew 22:44, nd Acts 2:34-36 plus many more passages of Scripture)

Isaiah 64:5. You meet him that rejoices and works RIGHTEOUSNESS, THOSE that remember you in your ways: (In other words, the dead in Christ shall rise first, and then we who are alive and remain shall be CAUGHT up together with the resurrected righteous in Jesus to MEET Jesus in the AIR) behold, you are wroth; (Now, upon who will Jesus execute the WRATH of Yahweh? Is it the dead in Christ? Is it the faithful Christians who remain alive at his coming? NO! Of course not! 

The WRATH of God will be poured out upon the DISOBEDIENT children, which includes SOME Christians who have DEPARTED from the FAITH.

For you see, many, as in, saved and unsaved, will be DECEIVED by Satan, the Devil during the great DECEPTION or great APOSTASY prophesied in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12. And it is THOSE who have sinned by REMAINING in their sins that are the “WE” who shall be crying out in repentance saying) for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved. (In other words, the pronoun “WE” is speaking of those who will be LEFT behind to suffer the WRATH of Almighty God.

And in THOSE who are RIGHTEOUS will be ETERNAL LIVE or continuance to live eternally will be given to them to rule and reign with Jesus to TEACH those who REPENT to be saved alive in their mortal bodies to go into the Millennial reign of Jesus)

Isaiah 64:6. But we (Or but now we understand that we who have rejected Jesus as our righteousness and who have forgotten his way, and we who never knew of him) are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. 

Isaiah 64:7. And there is none that calls upon Your NAME, that stirs up himself to take hold of You: for You have hid Your face from us, and have consumed us, because of our iniquities. 

Isaiah 64:8. But NOW, O LORD, You are our Father; (Or but NOW heavenly Father, we understand that Jesus is our Messiah who You MADE Lord and King over us.

And we now understand that the fulness of Your Deity dwells in him. And we repent of making our OWN righteousness in our own way and in our ow strength. And NOW we are yours completely) we are the clay, and You our potter; and we all are the WORK of Your hand. 

Isaiah 64:9. Be NOT wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity forever: behold, see, we BESEECH You, WE are all Your people. (Clearly, the Jews will repent and call upon the NAME of Yahweh when they SEE Jesus receiving THOSE who are RIGHTEOUS in him being raptured up into the clouds to MEET Jesus in the AIR over the place called Armageddon)

Isaiah 64:10. Your holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation. (Again, this whole chapter is a PROPHECY of those going THROUGH the WRATH of Almighty God, to which WE or THOSE in Jesus who WAIT for him are NOT appointed.

And thus, it is NOT OUR righteousness that is as filthy rags in verse 6 above as some Christian CLAIM by wrongly teaching that we are all BORN with a so-called SINFUL NATURE)

Isaiah 64:11. Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised You, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste. (I personally do not believe that the Temple will be rebuilt on the Temple Mount. And the house is referring to all of the synagogues and house of prayer, even the homes of the Jewish people will be burned by the enemy that hates the Jews more than any other nation, the descendants of Ishmael and Esau)

Isaiah 64:12. Will You refrain Yourself for these things, O LORD? Will You HOLD Your peace, (Or will You be STILL and lift your wrath) and afflict (Or more correctly translated, and Your LOOKING DOWN on) us very sore?”

Again, Isaiah 64:6 does NOT teach that all humans are BORN with a SINFUL NATURE. The CONTEXT of verse 6 is clearly speaking of the WRATH of God upon God chosen people the Jesus. The Jews will see and understand that they are suffering the wrath of Yahweh because they went their own way to establish their OWN righteousness.

And when they see Jesus, they will repent and CONFESS that their righteousness is as filthy rags.

We, as Christians have ALREADY repented of our sins and we already know that our OWN works of righteousness to keep the Law of Moses under the OLD Covenant is as filthy rags in the eyes of Yahweh.

So again, NO! Isaiah 64:6 does NOT prove that ANY human is BORN with a sinful NATURE. But rather, every human being LEARNS to walk in righteousness. And sadly, some people LEARN to corrupt their own minds and harden their own hearts to SIN against their conscience.

And the TRUTH of the matters is that every man has sinned at some point in the life, we all have FALLEN short of the glory of God BECAUSE we all have SINNED at one time or another in our life.

And it was Satan, the DEVIL who entices us to SIN.

Now sadly, Christadelphian Christians do NOT believe that Satan, the Devil, is a REAL literal BEING. And the Christadelphian Christians ALSO wrongly believe, as well as, some other church denominations, that God created EVIL and that Yahweh is the CAUSE of all of the EVIL in the world. 

Plus, Christadelphian Christians, as well as other church denominations such as the Roman Catholic Church, sincerely, but wrongly believe in the FALSE doctrine or original sin. And thus, they build their other man-made doctrines upon the false doctrine of every person being born with a so-called sinful NATURE.

Again, once Christians understand the REASON that Yahweh CREATED the Son of MAN, Jesus, was to have DOMINION over the work of Yahweh’s hands. 

And that you understand that the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels. 

Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become a Lord, a King, and a God, to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
