Christadelphian Christians Say that the Sons of God are MEN!

The Christadelphian Christians teach that Satan, the Devil, is NOT a REAL BEING! And they “interpret” the sons of God in Job 1:6 to mean that they were MEN and NOT the angels. Here is a quote from their teaching called Do You Believe in a Devil? The emphasis is mine.

“”There you are”, some people say, “Satan was in heaven among the angels! He must be a supernatural being!” But let us remember our vital rule: we must understand Bible terms in a Bible sense. “Sons of God”, for instance: it is true that once in Job (38:7) this term is used of the angels; but in the Bible as a whole it is often used of men and women who really worship God as contrasted with those who do not…

…In the New Testament it is said that Mary, the mother of Jesus, shortly after the birth of her son, came to the temple in Jerusalem “to present him to the Lord and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the law of the Lord” (Luke 2:22-24). The “sons of God” in Job, then, who came to “present themselves before the Lord”, had come together to worship God in the appointed place, and, of course, in the presence of the appointed priest at that time. This is a scene of worship upon the earth, not in heaven.

But what of “Satan” who came among them? Here the English translators have not really played fair with us, for all the Hebrew says is “the adversary”.” 

NO! That is NOT all that the Hebrew word “satan” means. The concordance ALSO says Satan, the arch ENEMY of God, and not just adversary. Let us continue with the quote from the Christadelphian article. 

“The capital S in Satan is the translators’ own invention, for Hebrew makes no distinction between capital letters and others. Even in the margin the Authorized and Revised Version translators have printed “the Adversary”, suggesting by their capital A, for which they have no evidence, that this is that special Adversary, Satan. All that the Hebrew justifies us in saying is “the adversary came among them”.”

Again, in the Hebrew concordance is says that if accompanied by the definite article the, then it refers to THE Adversary, Satan, THE Devil. So, the leaders of the Christadelphians are NOT being totally honest with their followers.

“God is All-powerful

But who could this adversary be? If this was a group come together to worship, he would be one of them; in other words he was a man; and he was an enemy to Job, because he was jealous of him and wished him harm.”

So then, to Christadelphian Christians, Satan is a MAN. And thus, a man who DIED. But yet, Satan still LIVES!

And thus, Satan was NOT a HUMAN MAN as the Christadelphians CLAIM! 

“But how then could there follow a conversation between the Lord and the adversary? Again, the Bible itself supplies the answer, for in Old Testament times men often received messages from God through the appointed priest at the time. David, for instance, more than once consulted the priest when he wanted to know what God’s will for him was, and the priest spoke to him on behalf of God. So this jealous enemy of Job-perhaps one who posed as his friend-said to God through the priest, “Job only serves you for what he can get. Just try bringing some trouble on him and then you will see.” And God, because He had a great purpose with Job and desired to see him perfected, allowed the adversary to carry out his envious desire upon Job.”

Now, when I read that passage of Scripture in Job, there is NO PRIEST mentioned or even suggested. So then, who is adding to God’s word, the translators who used a capital “S” for Satan, or the leaders of the Christadelphians who say that a MAN called Satan talked to God through a priest?

Here is the problem with that “interpretation” of Satan being a MAN. 

Can a man cause a whirlwind to knockdown a house to kill Job’s children? 

Can a man smote Job with boils?

NO! But a fallen angel who is the god of this present world has the power to those things and more.  Jesus said in John 10:10 that the thief comes only to steal kill and destroy, and Jesus is talking about Satan, the Devil. But he has come that we might have LIFE and life more abundantly.

There are many verses that COMPARE or rather CONTRAST the difference between Satan and Jesus. Therefore, to me, Satan is a REAL being who is the god of this present world just like the Bible ITSELF teaches us in 2 Corinthians 4:3,4.

Now, here is what I believe is the TRUE sound Biblical meaning of Job 1:6.

Job 1:6.

“Now there was a DAY when the sons of God (Or more correctly understood, there was and AGE before God created man that the angels) came to present themselves before the LORD, (Or more correctly translated, came to STATION themselves AGAINST Yahweh) and Satan came also among them.”

Or Satan was the CENTER of the cause of this WAR against Yahweh and the faithful angels.

For you see, Psalm 8:1-6 clearly teaches us that the VERY reason for WHY God created MAN and the Son of MAN, Jesus, was BECAUSE of His ENEMIES.

And now, in this present world, Satan, as the king over his army to TROOPS of angels, is the ACCUSER of the brethren, according to Revelation 12:10. And that is why God asked the fallen angel called Satan if he had considered Job who is a FIGURE of Jesus. When you read what Elihu says in Job 34:7-12, you can see Jesus being picture as the man suffering for the sins of the world.

Job 34:7-12.

“What man is LIKE Job, who drinks up scorning like water?

Job 34:8. Which goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men. (Or who eats with a tax collect and publicans)

Job 34:9. For he has said, (Speaking of the MAN who is LIKE Job, said) It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God. (Or he that exalts himself shall be abases, but he that humbles himself, God will exalt)

Job 34:10. Therefore, hearken unto me, you men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that He should commit iniquity. (Or far be it for that MAN who is LIKE Job, righteous and upright, a man who eschew evil, the one appointed to become a God, for that man to sin. NOR that the Almighty does EVIL)

Job 34:11. For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways. (And Revelation 20:13 says that every man that takes part in the last resurrection shall be judged by their works)

Job 34:12. Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, NEITHER will the Almighty pervert judgment.”

To me, this is a PROPHECY of a MAN LIKE Job being made a Lord, a King, and a God after the SUFFERING of the cross to bear the sins of the world, according to Act 2:36 and many more passages of Scripture.

Let us read some more of this prophecy.

Job 34:17,18.

“Shall even he that hates right govern? (This is speaking of Satan, the fallen angel, Lucifer, who corrupted himself) and will you condemn him that is most just? (And this is a prophecy of the MAN who will be LIKE Job, upright and eschew evil. Or as Hebrews 1:8,9 says of the Son, who LOVES righteousness and hates iniquity)

Job 34:18. Is it fit to say to a king, (Or is it just and righteous for Yahweh the Creator to say to His anointed Cherub who CORRUPTED himself) You are wicked? and to princes, (The other fallen angels) You are ungodly?”

Now let us go back to Job chapter 33 and read what Elihu says about the MAN who is LIKE Job. Again, to me, this is a PROPHECY of Jesus.

Job 33:14-30.

“For God speaks once, yea twice, yet man perceives it not. (In other words, God speaks in an account like Job, yet God is speaking of a SECOND thing in the future, but some do not perceive it. Or man without God’s Spirit do not understand it)

Job 33:15. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; (God gave visions to His Holy One, Jesus, according to Psalm 89:19)

Job 33:16. Then he opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction, (And God opened the ear of Jesus to hear His word and gave hi a tongue of the learned, according to Isaiah 50:4-11) 

Job 33:17. That he may withdraw (Or CALL BACK) man from his (OWN selfish) purpose, and hide pride from man. (Or boasting of their own righteousness done in their own strength)

Job 33:18. He keeps back his soul from the pit, (For You will not leave my soul in hell) and his life from perishing by the sword. (Or more correctly translated and understood, Jesus died BEFORE he was pierced by the SPEAR. Literally, his like crossing over was not by the SPEAR)

Job 33:19. He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain: (The word “bed” speaks of his decease or near upon his decease as he was dying the pain was unbearable)

Job 33:20. So that his life abhors bread, and his soul dainty meat. 

Job 33:21. His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out. (Speaking of the stripes he bore for our healing, tearing his flesh till bones showed)

Job 33:22. Yea, his soul draws near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers. (Because OUR sins, and the sins of the whole world were laid upon him) 

Job 33:23. If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to show unto man his uprightness: 

Job 33:24. Then He (Yahweh) is gracious unto him, and said, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom. 

Job 33:25. His flesh shall be fresher than a child’s: he shall return to the days of his youth: 

Job 33:26. He shall pray unto God, and he will be favorable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for He will render unto man his righteousness. (Speaking of God’s GIFT of righteousness in His Son, Jesus Christ)

Job 33:27. He looks upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not; (Or if any man repents and confesses he has sinned) 

Job 33:28. He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light. 

Job 33:29. Lo, all these things works God oftentimes with man, 

Job 33:30. To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.”

So then, the BIG PICTURE in the Book of Job, is Almighty God DETHRONING Satan and SETTING the MAN who is LIKE Job to be Yahweh’s God over the earth during the world to come.

For you see, if Satan is just a TERM for SIN, then that would mean that sin ALWAYS existed in heaven and on the earth from the day God created the universe.

But if Satan is indeed the fallen angel Lucifer like the Bible itself teaches, then Satan is the CAUSE of all evil, and NOT that Almighty God the Creator who supposedly created evil.

The VERY reason for WHY God created man and the Son of man INFERIOR to the angels was to prove that God did NOT create EVIL. For you see, for an INFERIOR MAN to the angels to live his life without sin would PROVE that God did NOT create evil. And even giving “SKIN for SKIN” to the point that his bones were showing, the MAN LIKE Job did NOT curse God.

And the MAN LIKE Job became the RANSOM for WHOSOEVER will BELIEVE and confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.

So again, the answer is NO! Satan is NOT just a TERM that refers to SIN and EVIL. But rather, Satan is a REAL BEING. And to DENY this TRUTH is to be a witness for Satan’s side, in my own opinion.

And to confess that God Himself BECAME flesh or the Son of MAN is to also make yourself a witness for the side of Satan.

Now, the Christadelphian Christians, as well as, some other church denominations, such as the Roman Catholic Church, sincerely, but wrongly believe in the FALSE doctrine or original sin. And thus, they build their other man-made doctrines upon the false doctrine of every person being born with a so-called sinful NATURE.

Again, once Christians understand the REASON that Yahweh CREATED the Son of MAN, Jesus, was to have DOMINION over the work of Yahweh’s hands. 

And that you understand that the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels. 

Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become a Lord, a King, and a God, to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
