Why Did God ALLOW Satan to Send Serpents on Israel?

 

One of my readers asked the following question.

 

“Why does God send fire, snakes, really bad things especially when talking of the story of Israelites to punish them? For example, Numbers 21:6-9 says that God sent snakes upon the children of Israel. Yet, the Bible is clear that our God is a loving, faithful, caring God, who will not allow bad things to happen to his children. Can you kindly help me understand the book of Numbers?”

 

And many other Christians and even many non-Christians ask the same kind of questions, why does God allow suffering and evil in the world if He is GOOD and there is NO DARKNESS of evil in Him at all?

I believe that the Apostle Paul answers that question and many other very similar questions for us in the New Testament. Here is one passage of Scripture that REVEALS the TRUE meaning of the Old Testament.

 

1 Corinthians 10:9-15.

 

 “Neither let us TEMPT Christ, (Or let us be absolutely sure that WE do NOT tempt the ANOINTING or Yahweh who ANOINTS and SAVES) as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. 

1 Corinthians 10:10. Neither murmur you, as SOME of them also MURMURED, and were destroyed of the destroyer. (Always interpret the Old Testament in the LIGHT of the New Testament. Notice that the Apostle Paul says that SOME were killed by the DESTROYER. And the SOME that were killed were those who MURMURED against Yahweh)

1 Corinthians 10:11. Now all these things happened unto them for EXAMPLES: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. (The end of this present world, or age and the end of the world or age to come)

1 Corinthians 10:12. Wherefore, let him that thinks he stands take HEED lest he fall. (Please understand that I am not judging Christians that BLAME God for everything BAD or EVIL that happens in the world. But rather, I am saying that, to me, it does not seem like a very wise thing to do, to say that Almighty God is the CAUSE of all of the EVIL in the world. 

And there are SOME Christians that actually TEACH there every thing that happens, whether good or evil, happens because God ORDAINED it to happen.

But in TRUTH, all of the verses of Scripture that they use to TRY to prove that God created EVIL and that ALL EVIL in the world is caused by God, have OTHER meaning when they are correctly “translated” and correctly interpreted in the LIGHT of the whole word of Almighty God)

1 Corinthians 10:13. There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will NOT suffer you to be tempted ABOVE that you are ABLE; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it. (So then, WHO is the TEMPTER of EVIL? It is NOT Almighty God, according to James 1:12,13) 

1 Corinthians 10:14. Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. (Now, the context of “idolatry” is the sense of doing what the devils do, which is to BLAME God for every bad and evil thing that happens. In other words, murmuring and complaining WHY is God doing this is “idolatry” in the sense that they are agreeing with Lucifer and the fallen angels that accused God of creating them flawed)

1 Corinthians 10:15. I speak as to wise men; judge you what I say.”

 

To say this another way, when Jesus healed and cast out devils, the unbelieving Jews gave the GLORY of those works of healing to Satan, which is blasphemy. And in a sense, the opposite of that is giving the BLAME to God for the WORKS of the Devil. And there are some groups of Christians such as the Calvinist Christians, the Reformed Theology Christians and the Christadelphian Christians that WRONGLY teach that Almighty God creates evil, sends evil, and is the cause of ALL evil in the world.

But what they FAIL to understand is that an ENEMY has waged a WAR against God and against all that is GOOD. And they also do not understand that the things we suffer “wrongfully”, God promises to reward us abundantly far more than we are able to ask or even think.

 

Romans 8:16-20.

 

“The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 

Romans 8:17. And if children, then HEIRS; heirs of God, and JOINT-HEIRS with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also GLORIFIED together. 

Romans 8:18. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are NOT WORTHY to be compared with the GLORY which shall be revealed in us. 

Romans 8:19. For the earnest expectation of the creature waits for the manifestation of the sons of God. 

Romans 8:20. For the creature was made subject to vanity, NOT WILLINGLY, but by reason of Him who has subjected the same in hope,”

In other words, Almighty God did NOT WILL this WAR to happen. And if those who blame God think that THEY could do a better job, then they are NOT being wise in their thinking!

Ephesians 3:20,21.

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 

Ephesians 3:21.  Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”

Another thing that Christians who wrongly blame God fail to see, is that many things in the Old Testament are SHADOWS, figures, types, EXAMPLES, and ALLEGORIES.

And the BRAZEN Serpent that Yahweh had Moses to make and put on a pole is a figure of the Son of MAN being lifted up on the cross to SAVE us from the BIT of that poisonous serpent called Satan, the Devil, who is the one who does the OPPRESSING of people, according to Acts 10:38.

John 3:13,14.

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 

John 3:15. That whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.”

And thus, those who were BITTEN by the serpent, and they LOOK to the one who was lifted up, then they did not DIE. But those who did not BELIEVE to look upon the “brazen” serpent PERISHED. So then, what happened to the children of Israel with God allowing Satan to send serpents against Israel was an ALLEGORY like Paul teaches us in Galatians 4:22-31.

And to me, that is the TRUE sound Biblical meaning of Numbers 21:6 when it is correctly interpreted in the LIGHT of the WHOLE word of Almighty God.

The fiery serpents and the CURE for the BITE of the fiery serpents is an ALLEGORY for the OPPRESSIONS of Satan and our HEALING in faith in Jesus being the ATONEMENT for our sins.

And not only for our sins, but ALSO for the sins of the whole world, according to 1 John 2:2,  and John 3:14-18.

Now, there are some Christians who do not even believe that Satan, the Devil is a REAL literal BEING.

And, those Christadelphian Christians, as well as, some other church denominations, such as the Roman Catholic Church, ALSO sincerely, but wrongly believe in the FALSE doctrine or original sin. And thus, they build their other man-made doctrines upon the false doctrine of every person being born with a so-called sinful NATURE.

Again, once Christians understand the REASON that Yahweh CREATED the Son of MAN, Jesus, was to have DOMINION over the work of Yahweh’s hands. 

And that you understand that the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels. 

Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become a Lord, a King, and a God, to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
