Joshua is a FIGURE of Jesus, the High Priest!

Some Christians interpret the phrase “the angel of the LORD” in Zechariah 3:1, as well as in other verses of Scripture, to mean that it is referring to a “pre-existing” Son of God.

But in truth, the phrase “the angel of the Lord” is found in the New Testament AFTER Jesus was conceived in the womb of the Virgin Mary. In other words, according to Matthew 1:21, while the Son of God was in the womb of the Virgin Mary, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph telling him not to fear that his future wife cheated on him. The angel of the Lord assured Joseph that the child in her womb was conceive by the Holy Spirit and NOT by any man.

Matthew 1:18-25.

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 

Matthew 1:19. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. (In other words, Joseph was afraid that his wife to be got pregnant by another man. And it was their “custom” to make a public example of those who committed fornication, which is having sex outside of marriage)

Matthew 1:20. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, you son of David, fear not to take unto you Mary your wife: for that which is CONCEIVED in her is of the Holy Ghost. (Now, they did not have early pregnancy tests and Sonagrams in those days. And thus, it may very well be that Mary was “showing” her pregnancy by the bump in her belly)

Matthew 1:21. And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 

Matthew 1:22. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 

Matthew 1:23. Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. 

Matthew 1:24. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: 

Matthew 1:25. And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.”

Also, “the angel of the Lord” appeared to the shepherds in the field on the day that Jesus was BORN. The baby Jesus was in the crib wrapped in swaddling clothes when “the angel of the Lord” appeared to the shepherds out in the field, according to Luke 2:6-12.

And, according to Matthew 2:13, “the angel of the Lord” appeared again to Joseph when Jesus was two years old to warn Joseph, Mary, and the child, Jesus, to flee to Egypt.

Then, after Jesus was crucified and, in the tomb, sealed by the large stone, “the angel of the Lord” appeared again at the resurrection of Jesus to roll away the stone from the tomb to release the risen Son of Man, Jesus, from the grave, according to Matthew 28:2.

So then, to me, “the angel of the Lord” is NOT a so-called pre-existing Son of God as church “TRADITION” wrongly teaches. But rather, in some of the Old Testament verses of Scripture, “the angel of the LORD” or the angel of Yahweh is a FIGURE of the Son of God.

For example, the angel of the Yahweh said unto Manoah in Judges 13:18 that his name was a SECRET, which also means WONDERFUL. And one of the names of the Messiah in Isaiah 9:6,7 is that his name SHALL be called Wonderful and Mighty God, the Father of everlasting. But keep in mind that Isaiah 9:6.7 is a PROPHECY and not a historical record of past events. 

And again, the New Testament in Hebrews 1:5 clearly teaches us that the Son of God is NOT an angel. For you see, God never said to ANY of the angels at ANY time, this day I have begotten you, I SHALL be a Father unto you, and you WILL be a Son unto Me, sit you at My right hand on My throne.

Also, the Hebrew word translated as “secret” in the KJV is only found two times in the Bible, And in Psalm 139:6, which is also a PROPHECY of Jesus, it is correctly translated as wonderful. Jesus is talking to Yahweh saying, this knowledge is too WONDERFUL for me to attain. 

Now, if a God the Son came down from heaven and became flesh as church “tradition” teaches, then you would think that he would have known that before he supposedly came down from heaven. But, in truth, no pre-existing Son of God came down from heaven to become flesh. Psalm 139:13-18 clearly teaches us that Jesus is the FULFILLMENT of the prophecy written in YOUR book, speaking of Yahweh’s book, the Holy Bible.

So then, to me, “the angel of the LORD” in Zechariah 3:1 is NOT a pre-existing Jesus. And neither is the angel of Yahweh a FIGURE of Jesus in this particular verse of Scripture.

But rather, Joshua, the high priest, is a FIGURE of Jesus. Let us go ahead and read Zechariah 3:1-10 so that you can see why I say the Joshua is a “figure” of Jesus.

First of all, the name “Joshua” is translated from the Hebrew word “Yeshua” which means the salvation of Yahweh. And the name Jesus also means the salvation of Yahweh. Keep this in mind as you read chapter three of Zechariah.

Zechariah 3:1-10.

“And he (Yahweh) showed me (Zechariah) Joshua (Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. (This is a prophecy of Jesus, the high priest, choosing to lay down his own life to bear the sins of Jerusalem and the sins of all who believe. In other words, this is a prophecy of the final Day of Judgment at the end of the 1000-year reign of Jesus. And according to Acts 17:29-31, Yahweh is judging Satan and the world by the man whom He ordained and raised from the dead)

Zechariah 3:2. And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke you, O Satan; even the LORD that has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? (According to Philippians 2:8-11, after the cross, Jesus was given a new name that is higher than any other name. And the new name of Jesus is Yahweh, his God and Father’s name)

Zechariah 3:3. Now Joshua (Or prophetically speaking, now Yeshua or Jesus) was clothed with filthy garments, (The LITERAL translation reads BEING clothed with filthy garments. In other words, this is a prophecy of Jesus BEING clothed with all of the sins of the whole world being laid upon him to bear our iniquities) and stood before the angel. 

Zechariah 3:4. And He (Yahweh the Father) answered and spoke unto those that stood before Him, (The pronoun “him” refers Yahweh. But Yahweh is speaking to the angel of the Yahweh, which represents all of the good angels who remained faithful to Yahweh, and Satan, who represents all of the fallen angels) saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. (Again, prophetically speaking of Jesus. Now, it is also true that because of Jesus dying for the sins of Joshua, that Yahweh was also referring to Joshua) And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused your iniquity to pass from you, and I will clothe you with change of raiment. (Now, to me, the CHANGE of raiment is prophetically speaking of our new glorified immortal bodies that we will be CLOTHED with at the coming of Jesus. 

For you see, Jesus was already being clothed with his new glorified immortal body on the day that God raised him from the dead and gave him LIFE to be having even as the Father has always had LIFE in Himself, according to John 5:26,27. 

Please notice in verse 27 that the very REASON for why the Son of God was given eternal life and the authority to execute judgment was BECAUSE he was the Son of MAN)

Zechariah 3:5. And I (Yahweh) said, Let them set a fair miter upon his head. So, they set a fair miter upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the LORD stood by. (Speaking of the good angel representing all of the good angels who remained faithful to Yahweh)

Zechariah 3:6. And the angel of the LORD protested unto Joshua, saying, (Or the good angels protested about Yeshua obtaining a more excellent NAME than the angels, according to Hebrews 1:3-9 AFTER the cross and resurrection)

Zechariah 3:7. Thus says the LORD of hosts; If you (Speaking “prophetically” of all of the good angels) will walk in my ways, and if you will keep (Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) My charge, (In other words, Yahweh gave the CHARGE to the good angels to protect His Messiah from the fallen angels) then you shall also judge My (Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) house, and shall also keep My (Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) courts, and I will give you places to walk among these that stand by. (Or more correctly translated, I will also give you places to walk among the ones standing, speaking of all of the SAINTS in Jesus)

Zechariah 3:8. Hear now, (Yahweh seems to still be talking to the good angels to now hear Yeshua and the saints in Jesus. For you see, the angels are ministers to the heirs of salvation. So, you angel LISTEN and hear) O Joshua the high priest, you, AND your fellows that sit before you: for they are men wondered at: (Speaking of Jesus AND his BROTHERS saved in his name and humans WONDERED at) for, behold, I will bring forth My servant the BRANCH. 

Zechariah 3:9. For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, says the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. (We all agree that Jesus is the chief corner stone, the foundation of the church. And the seven eyes are the seven churches in Asia in the Book of Revelation that represent the entire church age)

Zechariah 3:10. In that day, (Speaking of the 1000 year reign of Jesus) says the LORD of hosts, shall you call every man his neighbor under the vine and under the fig tree.”

In other words, all of the people during the Millennial reign of Jesus will live in peace with one another, they will be “neighborly” to one another.

And the phrase, “UNDER the vine and under the fig tree” means the order of AUTHORITY. Yahweh is the head of Jesus who is the VINE. And Jesus is ahead of the church, the believers, who are the branches of Jesus, the Vine. And the “fig tree” prophetically speaks of the children of Israel who will be the head over the nations.

In other words, Israel is the “tail” during this present world. But in the world to come, Israel will be the head, the upper class so to speak.

According to the prophecy in the older brother shall SERVE the younger brother, and the see of Ishmael and Esau are the “older” brothers of the seed of Isaac and Jacob, the children of Israel.

And we all agree that Satan is the Devil that ACCUSES the people of God during this present world.

Now, I saw we “all” agree, but in truth, there are some Christians who do NOT believe that Satan, the Devil, if a REAL being.

For you see, sadly, Christadelphian Christians do NOT believe that Satan, the Devil, is a REAL literal BEING. And the Christadelphian Christians ALSO wrongly believe, as well as, some other church denominations, that God created EVIL and that Yahweh is the CAUSE of all of the EVIL in the world. 

Plus, Christadelphian Christians, as well as other church denominations such as the Roman Catholic Church, sincerely, but wrongly believe in the FALSE doctrine or original sin. And thus, they build their other man-made doctrines upon the false doctrine of every person being born with a so-called sinful NATURE.

Again, once Christians understand the REASON that Yahweh CREATED the Son of MAN, Jesus, was to have DOMINION over the work of Yahweh’s hands. 

And that you understand that the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels. 

Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become a Lord, a King, and a God, to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
